In Greenfield veterans of many wars shared widely diverse views on proposals for a new war on Iraq. the communuty advocate for veterans services indicated that Gulf War veterans and veterans of the conflict in Kosovo were having great difficulty getting medical care from the V.A.. CALENDAR.   November 10 - Veterans for Peace Speak-Out Doug Rokke was the first to address a gathering at the MLK Labor Center on Sunday, Nov. 10 in New York City, 310 W. 43rd St. near Times Square. About 150 people attended the program with great speakers on civil liberties and choosing to refuse orders to go to Iraq. Yale University, Dwight Hall: Area peace activists met with Doug Rokke and Sunny Miller 6:30-9:00 pm.Fox news interviewed Rokke there. The program concluded with an excerpt from th evideo, "Invisible War, Depleted Uranium and the Politics of Radiation. This program was Sponsored by Connecticut Peace Coalition/New Haven, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, AFSC in Hartford, and Traprock Peace Center. A driving rain kept attendance in Boston at the Community Church on Boylston Street to about 20+ people. Most braved the rain to attend the 5:30 vigil at Copley Square. The presentation sparked lively discussion, co-sponsored by United for Justice With Peace, Watertown Citizens for Environmental Safety and Traprock Peace Center. In Portland, Maine veterans seeking care now are told they should drive to Boston (4-hour + round trip) at their own expense for care. Video tapes were made at all evening presentations. Following the program Wednesday night at the Peace and Justice Center, hosted by Peace Action Mainein Portland, ME on Nov. 13. Ewe made visits to teh Portland Phoenix, Senator Collins office and the Editorial Board wekly meeting at the Portland Press Herold. Friends on Peaks Island will discuss a proposal for Portland and Boston Tea Parties, public screenings of the video made on Nov. 13 and demonstrations of the malfunctioning M-40 gas mask. VA confirms 159,230 veterans (out of 572,833 veterans) who were in the Gulf War Conflict have service connected disabilities, as of May, 2002. Another 62,264 soldiers who served in the war's theater area have been granted disability claims. Of veterans in the conflict, 8,013 have died from service connected causes.

Dr. Rokke is a former US Army DU team health physicist and former US Army DU Project Director who worked on Depleted Uranium (DU) education and clean-up during the Gulf War. A whistle-blower from the inside, Dr. Rokke explains the reckless policies of the Army that exposed troops to deadly 'depleted' Uranium and othe toxic compounds. The Gulf War was claimed an 'easy victory' with fewer than 300 dead at the end of the combat period. Gulf War syndrome continues to plague tens of thousands of War veterans and their children. More than 221,000 vets assigned to the Gulf region have been awarded medical disability by the Veterans Administration.
