Leslie&Eve

Leslie Fraser & Eve Waite-Brown. Eve chaired the organizing committee for Traprock's Parade contingent. Leslie is honoring Doug Wilson, a long-time peace activist and director of the Rowe Conference Center. Eve is honoring Juanita Nelson, a pioneering civil rights activist and war tax refuser. She starting sitting in "whites only" sections of buses when she was 15 years old. She was denied a spot on the first freedom rides of the 40's because of her gender. Wally Nelson, her husband, was one of the early riders. The prevailing feeling was that there would be too much of a physical risk if the genders were mixed along with mixing blacks and whites. Juanita is one of the peacemakers honored in Traprock's traveling exhibits of peace maker panels.
