\nOn a Journey for Humanity
\nCindy Sheehan<\/p>\n
The other day I came out of my short retirement due to
\nyet another Bush flagrant abuse of power. We decided
\nthat we would walk from Atlanta to DC to gather a
\npeople\u2019s movement for humanity. The longer BushCo are
\nin office the less chance we have of recovering the
\nheart and soul of our nation, saving our soldiers and
\nthe people of Iraq and Afghanistan, and saving the
\nplanet from corporate and individual waste and
\npollution. Impeachment, removal from office, and in a
\nperfect world: incarceration for the criminals against
\nhumanity, are urgent and necessary steps that need to
\nbe taken today.<\/p>\n
Since the announcement of the Walk, circumstances have
\nchanged. Rev. Lennox Yearwood is not going to have his
\nhearing for Conduct Unbecoming until the end of
\nAugust, and we were going to begin our walk after his
\nhearing on July 12th in Macon, GA. So consequently,
\nwe are going to begin our Journey on July 10th in
\nCrawford, Texas.<\/p>\n
Our Journey will take us through places such as Ft.
\nBenning, GA, and New Orleans where Bush Crimes have
\nhad such a deeply detrimental affect on people.
\nTorture and the continued criminal lack of help for
\nthe people of the Gulf States are two of BushCo\u2019s more
\nheinous crimes.<\/p>\n
Our Journey will also take us to House Judiciary
\ncommittee members\u2019 offices where we will sit-in and
\ndemand that they institute Articles of Impeachment
\nagainst Bush and Cheney immediately. On July 23rd, we
\nwill be in Congressman John Conyers\u2019 office to
\nencourage him to take the lead on impeachment. A
\nsit-in in his office is possible and likely.<\/p>\n
The US part of our Journey will end in New York City
\nwhere on July 27th we will stage a demonstration in
\nfront of the UN to highlight the refugee crisis in the
\nMiddle East caused by the Bush High Crime Cabal.
\n There
\nare millions of people displaced by the atrocity in
\nIraq and, no matter what former US Ambassador and
\nleading neo-con war criminal, John Bolton says: the US
\ndoes owe the people of Iraq more than we can ever
\nrepay. The very least we owe them, though, is a
\nrelatively safe country to live in and basic human
\nrights like: homes, food, clean water and medical
\ncare.<\/p>\n
On July 29th, we will be re-creating the Summer of
\nLove and hold a \u201cGather-in of Hearts\u201d in Central Park
\nwith leading activists and musical entertainment.
\nProceeds will go to Iraqi Refugees and for medical
\nsupplies for Iraqi hospitals.<\/p>\n
When we are finished in NYC, a few of us will be
\nJourneying to Amman, Jordan to help refugees in Jordan
\nand Syria. We will visit the camps to assess the depth
\nof the humanitarian crisis that is causing so many
\nchildren to unnecessarily and tragically suffer. We
\nhave so much in this country. How can we allow
\nour brothers and sisters to go without basics? Who can
\nsleep comfortably at night and enjoy three square
\nmeals a day when other people only have moldy bread to
\neat and are starving? Do you think of the people of
\nIraq and the refugees literally dying of thirst when
\nyou go to turn on your tap for plentiful, clean water?
\nOur animals here in the US are treated better than
\nmany humans on our planet. As MLK, Jr said in his
\nspeech at the Riverside Church on April 04, 1967: \u201cMy
\ngovernment is the biggest purveyor of violence.\u201d Our
\ngovernment has killed enough people to populate many
\nsmall states in the US and has forced millions more to
\nflee their places of birth. Our governments will never
\nchange, but our hearts can and we can do much to
\nalleviate suffering and change the world.<\/p>\n
Since I announced the Journey for Humanity, I have
\nreceived a lot of support and encouragement, and many
\n\u201cI\u2019ll be with you in spirits.\u201d We appreciate your
\nmoral support, but we need your bodies and your
\ndollars if you can\u2019t participate. Our world is in an
\nenvironmental, political and humanitarian state of
\nemergency at this point and participation in a
\nPeople\u2019s Movement for Change, Justice and Humanity is
\nbecoming mandatory by our membership in the Human
\nRace.<\/p>\n
