One was for immigrants rights; the other against the war.<\/p>\n<p>March 27th was the culmination of a week-long hunger strike that had<br \/>\nbeen taking place in San Francisco&#8217;s Federal Building. The hunger<br \/>\nstrikers were protesting HR-4437, the anti-immigrant bill that had<br \/>\nsparked massive demonstrations across the country. The hunger strike<br \/>\nended yesterday with a noon march from the Federal Building to the<br \/>\ndowntown office of Senator Diane Fienstien.<\/p>\n<p>March 27th was also the culmination of a twelve day march called the<br \/>\n&#8216;March For Peace.&#8217; Starting in Tiajuana, Mexico and ending in San<br \/>\nFrancisco&#8217;s Mission District, the March was led by war resisters Pablo<br \/>\nParedes, Camilo Mejia, Aidan Delgado, and Fernando Suarez del Solar &#8211;<br \/>\nfather of Jesus, a US soldier killed in Iraq.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"miBvXnwVTi\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/guerreroazteca.org\/\">Guerrero Azteca<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00abGuerrero Azteca\u00bb \u2014 Guerrero Azteca\" src=\"https:\/\/guerreroazteca.org\/embed\/#?secret=CtQKJKtjdq#?secret=miBvXnwVTi\" data-secret=\"miBvXnwVTi\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>All together about 5,000 people marched in the streets of San<br \/>\nFrancisco yesterday, bringing together two seemingly separate issues<br \/>\ninto one united march. As was stated at the rally, the &#8220;war on terror&#8221;<br \/>\nis a war on the poor and a war on immigrants. It is under the guise of<br \/>\n&#8220;national security&#8221; that the attacks on immigrants are being carried<br \/>\nout. It is under this guise that the border is being militarized and<br \/>\nthe poor are being sent to die in the war in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow at San Francisco State, Students Against War will be holding,<br \/>\nalongside other campus organizations an immigrants rights speakout and<br \/>\nprotest.
