{"id":15,"date":"2005-12-15T15:17:53","date_gmt":"2005-12-15T19:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.traprockpeace.org\/campus_antiwar_network\/index.php\/2005\/12\/15\/16\/"},"modified":"2005-12-15T15:17:53","modified_gmt":"2005-12-15T19:17:53","slug":"16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grassrootspeace.org\/campus_antiwar_network\/blog\/2005\/12\/15\/16\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti-War Protesters Under Pentagon Surveillance Speak Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anti-War Protesters Under Pentagon Surveillance Speak Out<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, December 15th, 2005<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/article.pl?sid=05\/12\/15\/155223\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/article.pl?sid=05\/12\/15\/155223<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From Democracy Now: (follow above link to hear program and read transcript)<\/p>\n<p>We speak to anti-war activists in New York, Florida, California, Iowa and Ohio who organized protests listed as threats by the Pentagon.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon conducting domestic surveillance on peaceful protests and meetings has sent tremors though the country&#8217;s anti-war movement.<\/p>\n<p>Some fear a repeat of the Vietnam War era when it was revealed that the military had conducted investigations on at least 100,000 American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The domestic surveillance was so extensive that Congress placed new laws on military spying inside the United States.<br \/>\nOn Wednesday we contacted other anti-war and anti-nuclear activists around the county to get their reaction to the news about the Pentagon&#8217;s surveillance of peaceful protesters. This is what they had to say.<\/p>\n<p>Chuck Fager, Quaker House Fayetteville, NC.<br \/>\nSnehal Shingavi, University of California-Berkeley [Campus Antiwar Network chapter].<br \/>\nKristin Anderson, SFSU,  Campus Anti-War Network Coordinating Committee<br \/>\nWill Klatt, High School Student Organizer.<br \/>\nFrank Cordaro, Des Moines Catholic Worker<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Wrigley-Field, student at New York University and member of the national coordinating committee of the Campus Antiwar Network, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.campusantiwar.net\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.campusantiwar.net<\/a>  She helped organize a protest at NYU in February that was mentioned in the Pentagon intelligence papers.<\/p>\n<p>Marie Zwicker, organizer with the counter-recruiter group Truth Project in Lake Worth, Florida.
