March 28, 2003 - After a rally in front of Kollmorgan, a DOD contractor, hundreds marched to downtown Northampton and occupied the main intersection. Over 20 were arrested after a dramatic 'die-in.' Many then marched to the jail to vigil. Notice that the march progressed down both sides of King Street, leading to downtown. This created quite an effect, with many car blowing their horns in support, with a few hecklers. The march was supposed to be a solumn affair, in single file. It was hard to resist waving and smiling at passing motorists who honked. The police kept a low profile during the march as they attended to traffic safety tasks.
