The was a heavy police presence. The peace activists at Lafayette were entirely peaceful. Police made about 19 arrests of people who 'crossed a police line' during the day at the park. A few of the peace makers were beaten by the police, including an 80 year old woman who was knocked down and ended up in the hospital. Witnesses told us that a young man who crossed into Lafayette Park was beaten to unconsciousness.
