grassrootspeace.org

November 5, 2007: This website is an archive of the former website, traprockpeace.org, which was created 10 years ago by Charles Jenks. It became one of the most populace sites in the US, and an important resource on the antiwar movement, student activism, 'depleted' uranium and other topics. Jenks authored virtually all of its web pages and multimedia content (photographs, audio, video, and pdf files. As the author and registered owner of that site, his purpose here is to preserve an important slice of the history of the grassroots peace movement in the US over the past decade. He is maintaining this historical archive as a service to the greater peace movement, and to the many friends of Traprock Peace Center. Blogs have been consolidated and the calendar has been archived for security reasons; all other links remain the same, and virtually all blog content remains intact.

THIS SITE NO LONGER REFLECTS THE CURRENT AND ONGOING WORK OF TRAPROCK PEACE CENTER, which has reorganized its board and moved to Greenfield, Mass. To contact Traprock Peace Center, call 413-773-7427 or visit its site. Charles Jenks is posting new material to PeaceJournal.org, a multimedia blog and resource center.

NPR as Propaganda Machine

*Why does NPR not cover the Pro-Peace voice in balance?
*The two top executives at NPR (Kloss and Stern) built their careers as Administrators of the US Propaganda Machine

IN NPR'S OWN WORDS -

Ever wonder why even NPR seems to be only offering absolute minimal reporting on the immense anti-war efforts occurring in the US and around the entire planet? An anti-war movement that - in the breadth of types of people involved and in its literally world-wide and massive scope, is a major historical event in itself?

Go to NPR's own web page and read the bios of the two top men at NPR (Kloss and Stern) and you might find your answer. http://www.npr.org/about/people/bios/indexcorp.html

In NPR's own words their bios describe a history of both men working in very high administrative positions for US Government foreign media (another word for our government's propaganda machine).

What population more needs to be propagandized than the liberal and thinking population of America? Remember, for a propaganda machine to work,, it needs to sound like it is not propaganda.

WITHOUT A TRUE PUBLIC DEBATE available to us, how can we have a true democracy.

Perhaps this is why the tone of voice when talking of Bush's War seems to take it for granted that it is inevitable? Why the anti-war people that NPR is currently interviewing almost all say some thing like "but if the president sends the troops in, it will be my duty to support our boys" Why so few of the hundreds of highly placed, articulate and capable pro-peace voices are heard. We hear only just a token - just enough so that they can say "see, we covered it."

WITHOUT A TRUE PUBLIC DEBATE available to us, how can we have a true democracy.

I suggest that - where-ever you are - you forward this email to let people read for themselves of our two propaganda czars. And we can make up our own minds.

I suggest further that we boycott supporting any station that carries NPR but that does not daily carry programs like Democracy Now. (SEE http://www.democracynow.org/)

I suggest further that we boycott any local business that supports the local NPR affiliates who carry the NPR (National Propaganda Radio) programs but that do not carry daily programs like Democracy Now. (SEE http://www.democracynow.org/) And that we inform these local businesses of the issue and of our position.

PLEASE COPY FORWARD THIS POSTING AND LET'S TAKE OUR PUBLIC RADIO BACK FROM THE PROPAGANDA MACHINE.
