Ms. Cartwright-

I am writing in outrage that Kent State’s
administation is choosing to discipline Iraq and
Afghan War vet, Dave Airhart, for antiwar activities.

The name Kent State is notorious throughout the world
for allowing the National Guard on campus to murder
its own students. Now, you are choosing to line up
with the defenders of this criminal war by
disciplining a courageous student who hung a peace
banner in the hopes of preventing other students from
making the same bad decision he made to join the
military. What utter contempt you must have for your
own students.

As a full-time writer, editor and public speaker, I am
writing to inform you that I will redouble my efforts
to oppose your administration’s actions against Mr.
Airhart. Rest assured, unless you drop all charges
against Mr. Airhart, refund his fine and apologize for
criminalizing his dissent, the name Kent State will
again become a curse on the lips of a new generation’s
antiwar majority.
