Has Kent State followed Alice into you’ve-got-to-Wonder- Land?
David Airhart’s arrest is just one more incredibly mind-boggling calamity in the twilight zone that has become America. What does it say about Kent State (and our country) that David Airhart (and others like him) are the ones you choose to jail, expel, harass, etc? You would marginalize someone of decency – a veteran even! – because he speaks truth to power, is more courageous than most (you) and would confront the amorality of his wayward government? A government that pressures its citizenry to commit international crimes? If you will not teach students their moral and legal obligations – pursuant to the Nuremberg Trials – well then, please allow David to do what he can! Every student should understand that ‘following orders” is NOT an excuse for criminality, it does NOT absolve one from guilt. I’m told you would EXPEL David Airhart? Puzzling. You would not JOIN and APPLAUD his cause – as the decent thing to do, at the very least? You, of all people – a university for goodness sake?!
Kent State: say it isn’t so! You can help to right this world turned upside-down (by US goals of imperialism).
