Dear Dr. McMorris, Woodson Hopewell and Jewel Long:

I am writing to protest the treatment of students on your campus who, in the attempt to practice free speech, have been threatened with expulsion.

As a student at Kent State University I am well aware of administrators who attempt to repress students for their political protests. I am disgusted that you would send armed police officers to shut down an event of protest against the unjust issues of this world. Do you not remember what happened at Kent and Jackson State? I am also appalled that you and other administrators have decided to threaten students for practicing their free speech rights in a walkout on November 2.

I am wondering exactly what kind of message you are trying to send to the public about your school? It seems as though you want everyone to know that your University does not allow students to practice their fundamental rights on campus.

These students should be given an award for the work they have done in the midst of the repression you place them under. If you want to attempt to save the reputation of your school I would strongly advice you drop all charges against the students and begin to change your policies immediately.
