Brian Kelly and Lauren Giaccone ought to be honored, not punished for taking
a stand against the war crimes of former president Bill Clinton. Under his
watch, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children died as a result of UN
sanctions. It is an outrage that the Pace University administration has
lined up alongside the U.S. Secret Service to squelch dissent and free
speech on campus.
When the City College of New York cracked down on our right to protest last
spring with brutality, arrests and suspensions, the Campus Antiwar Network
and others launched a campaign in our defense. These efforts were successful
in beating back the administration’s repressive hand and winning our
reinstatement to school. At campuses across the country from Hampton
University to Kent State to Pace University, the antiwar movement continues
to do the same. We proudly stand behind Brian and Lauren as they bring truth
to light. Their dedication to the ongoing movement against war and
militarism is an inspiration.
