As an Ohioan whose Korean era service began on a collge campus, I must support those who protest recruitment roles at our schools. For more than half a century, our leaders, Republican and Democrat, have adopted and pursued erroneous and dangerous foreign policies. Those making such decisions in the present administration – often leading to death or mental or physical maiming of our youth – even lack any personal experience of the pain created as a result of the warmaking policies they pursue. Our schools should not participate in or allow recruiting but should, instead, hone a role of fostering study leading to a just and peaceful world.
