| November 5, 2007: This website is an archive of the former website, traprockpeace.org, which was created 10 years ago by Charles Jenks. It became one of the most populace sites in the US, and an important resource on the antiwar movement, student activism, 'depleted' uranium and other topics. Jenks authored virtually all of its web pages and multimedia content (photographs, audio, video, and pdf files. As the author and registered owner of that site, his purpose here is to preserve an important slice of the history of the grassroots peace movement in the US over the past decade. He is maintaining this historical archive as a service to the greater peace movement, and to the many friends of Traprock Peace Center. Blogs have been consolidated and the calendar has been archived for security reasons; all other links remain the same, and virtually all blog content remains intact. THIS SITE NO LONGER REFLECTS THE CURRENT AND ONGOING WORK OF TRAPROCK PEACE CENTER, which has reorganized its board and moved to Greenfield, Mass. To contact Traprock Peace Center, call 413-773-7427 or visit its site. Charles Jenks is posting new material to PeaceJournal.org, a multimedia blog and resource center.

Traprock Peace Center and New England Center for Women in Transition (NELCWIT)
March 8 - Charlie King and Karen Brandow - gave a great concert to about 150 people at Memorial Hall, Shelburne Falls. See the GREAT POSTER (pdf format). Scroll down to see photos from this great event.

Great thanks go to concert co-organizers Therese Fitzsimmons (NELCWIT) and Mary McClintock, Traprock Peace Center. Traprock tips its hat to Mary for her volunteer efforts, and it's been a real pleasure getting to know Therese.
A special treat is found below, thanks to Charlie and Karen!
Charlie and Karen did two sets with an encore of rousing peace, freedom and justice songs.
The audience included Dave and Joelle. We asked her to display her hand made banner, which they have hung from overpasses as part of the Bridges to Peace Campaign.
Rev. Kate Stevens served as MC. She introduced Pam Brown, Co-Director, NELCWIT and Sunny Miller, Executive Director, Traprock Peace Center.
Pam described NELCWIT's many fine programs NELCWIT provides services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and for children who have witnessed violence. The community is deeply grateful for 27 years of crucial programs which include counseling, advocacy, support groups, a 24-hour hotline, confidential shelter, and community education in Greenfield, Shelburne Falls, Turners Falls, Orange, and Athol. NELCWIT's general phone number is 413-772-0871. The hotline number is 413-72-0806 or, tool-free, 1-888-249-0806 voice/TTY. NELCWIT's website can be viewed at http://www.nelcwit.org.
Sunny Miller has been program director and then Executive Director of Traprock Peace Center for about 10 years. She is an accomplished artist who came to Traprock after doing wonderful murals in Boston (still on display). She turned her attention to helping to shut down Yankee Rowe, the nation's then oldest nuclear power plant and went on to become program director, and then Executive Director, at Traprock. Meet the Traprock Peace Center Core Group and view Traprock Peace Center's Early History. For our current activities, use the link to the home page below. Traprock turns 24 years old in 2003.
Charlie and Karen have offered a musical treat from their 'Puppet Town' album. Charlie tells a great story. In "The Treasure of Sierra Madres" Humphrey Bogart asks to see the badges of men who say they are police. The leader lifts his rifle and yells the title to the song. Enjoy "We Don't Need No Stinking Badges!" (MP3).
Charlie and Karen invited Kate to join in. She's a fine song leader and one of the mainstays of the peace movement in Western Mass..
My camera (not my fault of couse) fumbled during the long ovation; I had wanted more crowd pictures. Suffice to say, it was a very happy audience.
