July 25-26, 2003 - Photo Album - Civil Liberties Conference, organized by the Greenfield Community College (GCC) Response Initiative and Traprock Peace Center.

The conference started with a reception for Frank Serpico, former NYPD police detective who exposed systematic corruption on the police force. The Raging Grannies entertained an audience of over 100 people. Anne Wiley introduced Greenfield Community College President Bob Pura, who welcomed the conference participants, and Sunny Miller introduced Frank Serpico. His keynote address brought a standing ovation. Hear Serpico's address. Miller then introduced Bill Newman, Director of the Western Massachusetts office of the ACLU; author and attorney C. William Michaels; Professor Chrstopher Pyle, Ervine Sobelman of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and Carol Letson, Librarian. They each gave an overview of their presentation for the next day. Much more coming.

Fifteen local and national groups joined G.C.C. and Traprock as co-sponsors: Interfaith Council of Franklin County, W. Mass A.C.L.U., All Soul’s Church Social Action Committee, Conscious Communications Institute, Amherst Human Rights Commission, Peace Development Fund, Charboneau Learning Center, Pax Christi USA, SAGE Committee, World Learning/School for International Training, W. Mass A.F.S.C., the Greensboro Justice Fund, Sierra Club Massachusetts Chapter and the New England Coalition for Sustainable Population.
